SUMMARY:Tubac Nature Center's Hawk Watch Festival
DESCRIPTION:Tubac Nature Center’s Hawk Watch takes place annually throughout March at Ron Morriss Park. \nEach spring\, the skies above Tubac become a stage for one of nature’s most spectacular shows. The annual Hawk Watch brings birders\, nature lovers\, and curious first-timers together to witness thousands of raptors soaring north along the Santa Cruz River Valley. From seasoned experts with scopes to families spotting their very first hawk\, the hillside at Ron Morriss County Park is alive with excitement\, community\, and the thrill of migration. The peak season brings broad-winged hawks\, gray hawks\, and even the occasional rarity\, so every visit feels a little different. \nHawk Watch runs throughout the month of March 2026\, with daily counts and sightings. The biggest festivities\, featuring special programs and community activities\, take place March 14th & 15th. \nKick off with Family and Children’s Education Day on March 14\, where birders of all ages can learn about birdwatching\, including spotting and identifying birds\, using binoculars\, and understanding bird conservation. \nOn March 15\, local non-profits dedicated to conservation\, such as Friends of Madera Canyon and the Anza Trail Coalition\, will join us to share their important work. Our presenting sponsor\, Kowa Optics\, along with leading dealers like Zeiss\, Vortex\, and Swarovski\, will showcase the latest in optics\, including scopes\, binoculars\, and tripods.  Tucson Audubon and Hawk Watch International will also be present\, enhancing the experience. \nLast year\, we welcomed over 2\,200 visitors from 5 countries and 33 states\, making it a truly global event!
