You can see the Phoenix Suns play at Talking Stick Resort Arena. The Phoenix Suns are a professional basketball team part of the Pacific Division of the Western Conference in the National Basketball Association (NBA). They were founded in 1968.
The Arizona Cardinals are the oldest running pro football franchise in the United States. The team was founded in 1898 in Chicago, Illinois. In 1920 the team relocated to St. Louis, Missouri, and remained there until 1988 when they moved to Phoenix, Arizona. The Arizona Cardinals have yet to win a Super Bowl but they were runners-up in 2008 and 2015. They play their home games at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.
The stadium has a retractable roof that opens or closes depending on the weather conditions outside. The Arizona Diamondbacks, or D-Backs as they are commonly called, play in Chase Field at 401 East Jefferson Street. The Diamondbacks play in the National League West Division of the Major League Baseball (MLB) league. The Diamondbacks are a relatively new team to the MLB, having been founded in 1998 as an expansion team and beginning play for the 1998 season. However, that did not stop them from reaching success quickly. After winning their division in 1999 and 2001, they won the World Series title in 2001. They also won their division in 2007 and 2011.
The Phoenix Mercury are a professional basketball team based in the city of Phoenix, Arizona. The Mercury competes in the Western Conference in the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA). The team was founded before the league’s inaugural 1997 season began. They are owned by Robert Sarver, who also owns the Mercury’s NBA counterpart, the Phoenix Suns.
The Mercury have qualified for the WNBA Playoffs in eleven of their twenty years in Phoenix. In 1998, 2007, 2009, and 2014, they won their conference championships. In 2007 and 2009 they won league championships; as of 2019, they are one of six current WNBA teams to have won at least three titles. They are one of only two WNBA teams to have never missed the playoffs; their closest competitor is the Minnesota Lynx who won their first title 2 years after relocating to Minneapolis and making it to their first Finals and playoff appearance in 2004). They play with a blistering pace under head coach Sandy Brondello who was hired on October 5th, 2015. In Brondello’s four full seasons with Phoenix she has led them to 20+ wins every year along with being named Coach of The Year twice (2018 & 2019), leading them back into championship contention winning 60 games from 2018-2019 combined making it all the way back to their 4th championship series against Washington Mystics whom they lost 4-1 ending with an overall record of 51-21 over those two seasons which ranks tied for 2nd most wins over a two-year span all time (2004 Los Angeles Sparks had 52)
